Mirage

All these missed dances
got me thinking
our love is illusory
a curiosity
scrawled in sand
or invisible ink
developing slowly
as fog clears to reveal
a lambent almost-flicker
beckoning
at an event horizon
we can never really reach

  1. Rilke was right, humans have not yet learned to really love. This poem inks the despair and possibility of that!

  2. Is love a mirage? I feel there are different levels of "love" will we ever reach the highest ladder rung?

  3. Time for our love to get real. Especially for the earth, its creatures and each other. Let's take love into the voting booths!! Smiles.

  4. May love's flicker one day consume this earth and make everyone breathe. But until then there will be despair. Wonderfully penned.

  5. Well...this gets me to thinking.
Which is what poetry is supposed to do.

  6. Interesting message; it seems to offer some possibility despite.... I love both the economy and the musicality of the words. (Don't know which are Kerry's suggestions, as word lists aren't really my thing, but it doesn't matter – you weave them all, hers and yours, together beautifully.)
