Last Friday in April

Funny how
I write about the same things
at this time every year
showers and flowers
chartreuse
dark moods
Pretty sure
to start many
a bleak topical verse
I’ve used funny how
and I always listen to Morphine
on rainy days

  1. This is beautifully evocative, Marian💞 I guess that's just how the mind works.. as we contemplate our feelings towards things both old and new💞

  4. Oh the mood of certain days... there is something about April... maybe it's preparing for May?

  5. I like your approach to the season, Marian, and particularly love the internal rhyme and half rhyme of:
    'showers and flowers
    chartreuse
    dark moods'.
Is Morphine your go-to 'Cure for Pain'?

  7. The phrase "funny how" seems to accompany a measure of sadness, and even anger sometimes, when I use it. Perhaps it's a way to cushion myself from the actual feeling regarding the situation as they seldom have anything to do with mirth.

  8. I like how you've captured the resignation behind a resurgence of sadness that occurs like clockwork.
