Untitled (Early May)

I wish I could show you
what I saw today--
a modest and orderly orchard,
trees planted like gravestones
on a lazy slope
behind a roadside apple stand,
perfect spring blossoms
glistening in the stately slant
of dinnertime sun
as if to say here’s how to stand
when it’s your turn to go
to seed

  1. The trees like gravestones make me feel that the seeds won't grow... as if there has been a breath of frost in that orchard.

  2. This reads like wonder that has enjoyed the art and pleasures of blooming. Such a sight, Marian.

  5. Nice, Marian. I saw it also on FB but this time the thought occurred that some plants only go to seed once. Like the Dandelion. And it's seeds blow with the wind.
