Music in Several Dimensions

Replace
all that hot air
with helium
float effortlessly
in effervescent stasis
beyond the ceiling
clouds
stratosphere
to a place
humming
with indulgent dreaming
you are weightless there
carelessly tasting
sugars hyper-tremolo
not of Earth
engorge your senses
for a flash
as upon your return
I am gone
and you are
strumming
your Stratocaster

NaPoWriMo Day 5! Responding to Bjorn’s space-time prompt in the Imaginary Garden. What is this? I have no earthly idea. :)

    1. OK, so I'm not the only one who saw some subtext in "strumming your Stratocaster"

  2. This felt like the protagonist was moving away from an love affair, where her partner had already floated so far away in their own imaginings, there was no point to staying.

  3. Music does transport one beyond time and space - a very cool response.

  6. Music can help us feel weightless...I love the way this seems to float all on its own.

  9. Do you wish this poem would spread out with the speed of light, which I unfortunately is much faster than the speed of sound. Stratocaster is a new word to this country fellow. Thank you for spreading it my way.
