Hairstory

1.

Your hair
is a tall tale
fantastic
undercurrents
barely contained

2.

Yours
cascades
like headwaters
seeking confluence
in your heart

3.
And yours
strokes yesterday
behind your ears
overflows
in favor of someday

  3. Ah, this is just superb work, Marian. I think hair can be a most beautiful part of the body, and you have captured that sensuous glory so well.

  6. I was trying to go for rivers of hair here too. I don't know, this whole thing started with thinking "your hair is a tall tale" and then I obsessed over the compound word list and took the descriptions to the water. :)

  7. I really love this... hair has been an obsession of mine in some of my recent poetry too... it's almost a personification of hair...

  8. I like this too, Marian. Are you writing about my friend, Willie Nelson?
Fun reading, Marian, and more fun trying to figure it. Thank you for your hints above here for Sherry. I don't think I've ever used 'hair' in my writings here, literally or other. The third verse, if literal, sort of describes my friend, Willie, and me. We both are old. He can 'sing', I cannot.

  15. I have always found long hair so beautiful, on either sex, and here you really give it a life of its own, an extension of our lives, a connection to our natural selves, time and each other. Much loved it, Marian.
