Subrogation

Observation
of your profile
in oration,
recollection
of my body responding
to your entrance,
reflection
on infatuation
with unfortunates
who had every intention
of returning
to their backwater ways

A little exercise in response to Karin’s weekend challenge in the Imaginary Garden, and #15 of 30 Poems in November to benefit Center for New Americans.

  1. I love your word choices. The clarity of meaning could not be more strongly felt.

  2. The returning to backwater ways sounds less than good... great choice of words that resonate with meaning.

  3. Ha-- Marion-- a lot squeezed in this short ooem. I especially like the title-- of course the sound is really interesting but the layers of meaning manage to have their own echoes. Thanks for playing along and good luck with your quest. K.

  4. Not for the faint hearted looking full faced at past mistakes or heartaches

  6. You nailed it! I try to avoid "reflection on unfortunates" from my past. Sadly, the title of my memoir has already been taken: "A Series of Unfortunate Events", LOL.

  9. Pretty smooth operator here, Marian. I am intrigued with your line,
"of my body responding." Some how I just can't picture what and how
This, one time, I can remember, ...
Oops, that was your rough draft beginning line.
