Hannah reminds us that it’s International Haiku Poetry Day and asked for nature haiku to mark the occasion. These are unrelated impressions from this morning and are unfinished, but I’m sharing anyway for #17 of 30 in April. Haiku seems so simple, but I think it’s actually quite challenging to write GOOD haiku. I wouldn’t say these fit the bill, yet. :)
Ah.. what a nice collection.. a little gem of wisdom in each of them. I find haiku very challenging too, the wordplay with pine in the last one was especially intriguing for me.
ReplyDeleteAgreed with Bjorn :D This is superb..!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very happy national haiku poetry day :D
Love,
Sanaa
Nice news suprise, Mariam. Anoother one comes from reading these haiku together and finding that whisper of playfulness in a day that includes a fall. Around here the buds are in a rush to open. Too soon!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your haiku moments; A Happy INternational Haiku Day to you
ReplyDeletemuch love...
a beautiful set...the last one's my favorite...
ReplyDeleteYes, haiku are at once the easiest and hardest things to write. :) I particularly like your last one here.
ReplyDeleteFantastic haiku! Yes, that last one speaks to me also. Congrats on your photo in the paper! I wish I could attend.
ReplyDeleteI love that your poetry group members have decided to wreak havoc when they meet. In a library, does that mean your voices rise above a whisper? Just kidding. I love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat haiku, great news clipping - good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou create a detailed image of the final days of winter/first of spring with your string of haiku.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you featured in the local rag! I wish I was near enough to come and watch the performance.
Well, look at you, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLovely haiku. That last one is particularly awesome.
A nice set you wrote, Marian. My favorite lines were of the sunrise gift of incessant chatter. We get that announcement quite often. Your squirrel comes over to our back porch too. I got a couple of nice pictures him, one standing up.
ReplyDelete..
How nice to have a lovely poetry group to share with. I like your "unrelated haiku" but I enjoyed them strung together. My favorite is the last one - as I have lately been eyeballing my squirrels and trying to out-fox them at the bird feeders :)
ReplyDeleteI really love each of these, Marian! The one about the tree resonated with me most because this morning's first coffee was spent beneath one that's ready to burst as well. :) Thank you so much for writing, Marian and I SO wish I were near you...I love that you're in a poetry group! ♥
ReplyDeleteloved those last three lines
ReplyDeleteThese are all delightful. I think the last two are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteBravo, I love yours~ And congrats on the mention in the local paper~
