Night Flight

Everyday
demons patrolling night
amidst ordinary memories
make for substantial adjustments
   in dream subject
not to mention predicate, speaking
of running, fleeing, flight
from demons--

Amazing
one considers flying
at all, what with demons following,
temptation to hunker down strong--
   overwhelming,
that burrowing urge, but salvation
requires self-promotion,
so fly now--

Margaret resurrected a spooky prompt from Fireblossom for the weekend in the Imaginary Garden.

  1. I like burrowing… Adore the ending about flying, self-promotion, and salvation. Very wise.

  4. Fear of flying becomes fear while flying--those night demons are a bitch to shake. Tight, short and all the better for it--sneakier that way.

  7. Self-promotion is a means of locomotion--you are definitely right! But not so easy--very clever, great flow! Thanks. I lost my first comment, so will stick with this identity, but it's me, K. Manicddaily.

  10. This reminded me of stress dreams I used to have when I was trying hard to fly and some kind of demon would be flying after me.
