Chapel Street

The house
is changed
when he’s out:
observant,
besotted,
thrumming
with questions
she never asks.

  1. For me 'besotted' represents hundreds of words ... awesome vignette, Maid Marian.

  2. This speaks of a strained relationship between him and her. A woman who holds her peace when a man around usually has due cause. Such an interesting vignette, filled with possibility.

  3. The very house is thrumming with the questions "she" can't ask. You say a lot in so few words.

  4. Yes, you convey so much in these few lines...besotted and not daring to ask questions...it paints a vivid picture.....love the house "thrumming".

  5. Taking the most extreme situation: It's as if the environment accuses her, wants to know, instead of letting her relax. Sounds like a good friend. 'Course, she needs another good friend who can let her stay elsewhere.

  6. It's those unasked questions that'll bite her in the butt later!
