giving thanks where it's blue

What’s it to you
if I wanna thank the sky
for being blue?
On another day,
I give thanks for grey
or the way the clouds lay
like frosting on a wedding cake
in shades of white and off-white
and almost-white.
I’m grateful, too, for overcast days
giving way to half-light
and moonlight, the bright night
of the lantern moon,
because it turns dark far too soon.
That’s when my heart pleads please stay.
Thank you, sky, for another day
of being blue.

  6. Such a pretty poem of thanks, positive all the way.

I'm thankful too for the blue
    ours is watering today
    with pretty bright silvery streaks
the grey is blue in my mind

Way too cute, this poem. This poem has a "don't worry, be happy" vibe I like very much.

  9. Lovely! Reminds me of a sister PhD candidate at UC Berkeley who got depressed when praise was garnered for doing her job. She didn't see the need for that acknowledgement and asked if the world was so far gone that people rarely met expectations. I thought then and do now that such thanks is like a morning kiss so fast that you may not notice how it makes your day until it is gone. Praise on! Thank you.
