eggshells

Taping my hems,
helping to identify objects
in ceiling water stains:
   That’s a stick.
   No, that’s a fart!
What does a fart look like?
Wondering if I can write poems
to a Rob Zombie soundtrack
plus a litany of mama, look!
And whether I can keep up pace.

  1. Intriguing title . . . Your narrator answers her own question here. What's it feel like to be so engaged and on pace and then--without planning it--to find one part of you has stepped back to watch the energy vortex and sometimes the details? It takes such a delicate balance!

Do people ever get babysitters just to stay home in another room?

  2. Wife, mother, professional, poet... that crunch is definitely the eggshells beneath your feet.

  3. A fart is like the wind...you can't see it, but you definitely know when it's wafting your way!

  4. I so love your kids. "What does a fart look like?" Reminds me of my grandkids when they were little, earnestly discussing whether or not God ever had to go to the bathroom!

  5. can you juggle and run at the same time? Of course you can, as all moms do it. :) Fun, fun, and I understand. :)

  7. A busy, full life. You show us the innards. I dare not consider the opposite. This is it.
