Far away
yet right up close,
close enough to blur
the breeze between what
and if--
Sparrows throw a rose parade
but if I march, they’ll fly.
What if I threw
caution to the wind
and flew?

ReplyDeleteThat's some awe-inspiring place, between what and if...
ReplyDeletewow.wondrous image.loved it.
ReplyDeleteI like the ending line ~ I say fly away ~
ReplyDeleteWhat if? The mantra of anyone with a rich imagination.
ReplyDeleteFlying with sparrows above rose parade ... sounds like a plan! May I play my flute?
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful. Like Kerry I wish I had written it!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the sparrows taking any of the trophies at the Tournament of Roses Parade...it's breezy in feel and tone, but it's not lightweight by any means; that's no easy combination to pull off.
ReplyDeleteThe sparrows are flying!!!!! Ha...I too love the parade line, do not let SA take that one away from you no matter how much she begs...lol. This was was reason enough to fly...I think you are flying 90% of the time.
ReplyDeleteLove it...I am all for flying...:)
ReplyDeleteWow I loved your poem.
