What is this nonsense foolery
reverbing my old ears?
It radiates annoyingly,
unearthing old dark fears--
What if it forecasts gloomily,
portends the worst of years?
I fear I’ll be dragged noisily
into a world of tears.
Laurie recaps a year of word prompts to the Real Toads, including NONSENSE.

I am confident we are entering an enlightened age. Hold my hand. Our combined forces will overcome it all!
ReplyDeleteGreat work on the form dear ~ I don't think you will ever be dragged down by these noises ~
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping next year is better than this has been.
ReplyDeleteIt's gotta be better, right? Right?
ReplyDeleteLet's hope there are a LOT of mattresses at the bottom of the fiscal cliff!!!! Trampolines, maybe????
ReplyDeleteLet's hope not!
ReplyDeleteI feel it too, Marian. You capture the emotion well and I enjoy the sound play with the "or," in portend and worst and also the cyclical feeling of nonsense in the beginning and closing with noisily...hmm words are fun to play with, aren't they. :)
ReplyDeleteTalk about expressing a truth--well done. Fortunately our fears are usually worse than reality!
ReplyDeleteFear, it eats at us all..May your new year be full of wonder.
ReplyDelete...dragged into a world of tears.. this seems to happen willy-nilly, and age is no defense!
ReplyDeleteSome authors have the ability to make nonsense rhyme speak volumes about the human condition and I think you got that right here.
Oh, I like this, Marian. Even though your nonsense pretends to portend doom and gloom, it bounces along at a jolly pace. Great fun, I think.
ReplyDeleteK
argh, let's all keep our chins up and our voices loud. xo
ReplyDeleteevery day gives us a chance to do it better, to do it again. Right?
ReplyDeletelet's hope the tears are salty and cleansing if we need to weep.
