Time as an object--
window air conditioner
battered by a hard rain,
string of lights,
a junior bed,
sunscreen hair,
salty arms shimmering heat,
wrapping me
in good time.

Good time is happy time. Nicely said. I like the 'salty arms shimmering heat' line too.
ReplyDeleteyes. that 'shimmering' was so apt.compact wonder.
ReplyDeleteI like the listing technique you have used here. The reader feels as if she (or he perhaps) is gathering up items which promise to become a whole in the final lines. Very evocative pictures.
ReplyDeletesounds like a SUMMER VACATION to me...and a lovely one at that. ;)
ReplyDeleteWrapping me in good time. WOW. Love that line. xo
Love "time as an object" It is not merely minutes ticking away life but tangible life filling minutes.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful - "wrapping me in good times". Life is so good, isnt it, kiddo?
ReplyDeleteTime indeed is an object, one to value, although it can't be collected. So beautifully said. Thank you!

The best of times... I agree!
ReplyDeletethis could be my cottage - gotta get back there
ReplyDeleteI like the almost randomness of the items listed, I say "almost" because I know memory ties them all together. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThis perfectly describes the hug of a child. It's like a reset button. No matter what else is going on, those scents, voices, kisses ... they call an intermission on the outside world. :)
ReplyDeleteA flickering kaleidoscope of images caught in time...well done.
ReplyDeleteoh, thank you, my friends! i was describing here what it felt like to lie with my young daughter in her room, on summer vacation :)
