what remains

rubble & broken things
struggling
people offering help
people who'd rather pretend
it didn't happen
people passing judgment
a squashed swimming pool
a busted heart.

  1. life will rise back up out of the rubble, and the swimming pool will be mended or replaced.

I suspect, too, that hearts will heal in time.

but what to do about the judgement and pretense?

  3. Some things are hard to repair. Swimming pools AND hearts. But hopefully they will be, in time.

  6. As I read this, I got the feeling there was a lot more to this tale which remains unsaid.

  7. Hard to keep afloat when the water gets sucked out of a relationship. But then... perhaps I missed the boat?

  10. I very clearly understand the busted heart, have been there and can empathize with you at the thought of a squashed swimming pool....brings back memories of my daughter when she was little. Precious, also, thanks for such a valued response for my poem, "O Flower Of Man," and thank you kindly for visiting my site. Stay creative.

  12. Sorry you had the problem. Hard for children to understand and easy for some adults to dismiss.
