what a strange day this is
what with the flag-waving
and anthem singing
and partying like it's 1999

or 2001

what have they done with my country?

i'll be the one
sitting just quietly under the tree
not celebrating the violence
that begets further violence

come and join me.

  1. I'm already there.

Almost ten years later, after billions spent and too many lives lost, this is our great reward.

    Worth it? Not even close.

(We won't even get cheaper gas out of the deal)

  2. I understand the political and symbolic value. I also understand that some people do perpetuate evil and hatred. Intellectually, I understand. But I also understand the cost. I cannot celebrate. Feels wrong in my soul. Feels like we should be praying, meditating, focusing on being better, living lighter and brighter and more lovingly. I AM an anomaly, I guess.

  3. My sentiments exactly. When 9-11 happened we all cringed at the videos of "them" celebrating in the streets at all the loss of life. Yet here we are, looking just as savage.

i guess we can expect every last soldier home by the end of the week now, right?

and no need for the TSA, Homeland Security, the Patriot Act, Guantanamo, and warrant-less wire tapping either?

    whew...glad that's all over.

  4. "darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that.
hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
    dr. martin luther king, jr.

  5. i don't feel any better today. sigh.
