and there you are
a guy with friends and likes
kids gripes jokes. i have been human
all this

you have been like
a voice on high. before
and again, the earth small, my heart

so big.

  3. well, the difference between us and chimps is less than 4%; so human to human, we're statistically nearly identical, but practically different.

  6. Marian, I loved The Social Network. "One click/and there you are" says it all. It's true... we all have "friends" and "likes" and the rest, yet we remain very much our own selves. Your final lines, "the earth small/my heart so big" was a little thrill. I remember saying, after I'd given birth, "My heart is so full," and crying for happy. So your poem was very personal for you, and taken personally by me. Thank you for opening your heart to everyone.

  13. I guess it's safe to invest time on such sites- simple, name sake friends n relations but without any involvements!

What the hell- I too am human!
Then again- I love to connect with each n all..

    Smiles xx

  17. Very nice piece. Couldn't help but notice the juxtaposition of the subject matter and the classic typewriter image to the right. Sigh..I'll choose the latter. vb

  18. thanks, and yes.
you know, this poem is really about what it's like when you meet someone you've admired. in whatever way that meeting happens.
you lose something, and gain more.

  21. Very well put, peeled and rounded off. I love reading writers engaging with the current world, not just the timeless stories.

  22. Great write! I'm still getting used to the idea of social networking - and finding I'm utterly horrible at it. If it were as simply and enjoyable as your words....
